5. At this stage you can trim excess from the head, but i choose to leave it on until the end.
6. If wanted tie in a pair of Jungle Cock eyes. Try to get the JC to sit between the two materials.
7. Once tied in form a neat head with the tying thread. Scoobies are good because you can burn them slightly, which gives a lip to the head end. At this point i dab a little liquid superglue onto the head, but varnish would be fine.

Scoobies, Tying thread, Wing Material - in this fly Arctic Fox & Fluoro hair,Jungle Cock, Varnish
Scoobies are widely available to purchase, most shops, newsagents, bargain shops WH Smiths & Woolworths. They come in a mass of colours, I have chosen to tie a Black & Blue version.

3. Now tie in a bunch of Wing, Artic Fox in this case. Again dependant on the fly, you can either tie slim or a substantial wing. The wing should extend very slightly past the end of the scooby tube.

1. Cut a length of scooby, this can be whatever you like depending on the fly you wish to tie. Place into either a tube fly tying accessory or a large needle. (you want this to be a snug fit to stop the tube from spinning.

2. As you would do with a tube, make a few tight touching turns around what will be the head of the fly. If you wish you can add a drop of varnish for extra strength
4. Once tied in rotate the fly, by spinning the scooby in the vice and tie in the secondary wing material, in this case flouro hair.

And thats it....dead easy. Finish with a few coats of varnish, i use 3 coats of Hard as nails.

Try a variery of colours, dependant on your river, addtional cones and beads can be added to the dressings.
